You all know the story by now. The govenor of Edo State, Gov Oshiomole while leading officials of the state to sanitize the city of Benin came across a widow roadside hawker and impounded her goods.
The poor widow, Mrs Ifije, knelt before the former labour leader, begging for her little means of livelihood, pleading that she's widow. The governor wasn't having it, and in the most meanest of manners, told the woman to "go and die"!
The news went viral and after the pressure of the criticism hit him, the governor had no choice but to apologize to the widow. He didn't do only that. He also invited her to the government house, offered her employment and gave her a N2million grant for her to get a shop and trade
Mixed reactions followed, the weirdest coming from Ogun state. According to a number of reports, Ogun state indigenes while commending the Governor for apologising and empowering the insulted widow, also believe that their meeting each other was divine, and they think that both parties should embrace the opportunity. One said Oshiomhole is a widower while Mrs Joy Ifile is also a widow and so both should marry
A petty trader is quoted to have said that from her own opinion, she thinks that God has a purpose for the two of them and there is nothing wrong if the two eventually fall in love, in view of their marital positions. She believes that both cannot and should not remain single parents for life
What do you think?
