Incredible: Armed Robbers Attack Catholic Church, Cart Away N10 Million

Wonder they say shall never end, as heavily armed bandits numbering over ten on Saturday invaded St. Eugene Catholic Church, Osusu, Aba in Abia state, where they carted away over N10 million naira.
African Examiner gathered that the money taken away by the armed robbers in two ‘Ghana must go bags’ were proceeds of the offerings raised at the just concluded crusade held in the parish.
An official of the church who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the robbers also stole other valuables such as laptops, electronic appliances, and other personal effects belonging to the Reverend fathers and Sisters of the parish.
Sources disclosed that the gunmen gained entrance into the church by climbing through a ladder at a section of Sacred Heart College which shares same premises with the church.
The robbers were said to have avoided using the main gate of the church, rather they cut off the burglary proof to the building which enabled them gain entrance into the building.
According to a resident of the area and member of the parish, before security operatives who were on patrol could storm the church, the dare devil men had escaped through a local route, shooting sporadically on air so as to scare residents.
When our African Examiner’s correspondent visited the church, worshippers and sympathisers were seen discussing the unfortunate incident in groups.
Effort to speak with a priest said to be the head of the Rev. Fathers in the parish was unsuccessful, as he declined making any comment on the issue to the media.
